Pre season Review

Training match - Phonex- 27th august 2007 - 9-3

West - Boreham - Pennell - Badham - Worby - Goad - Pinder - Jim - Grant - Watson - Maynard

A good game before the start of the season. Cuxton were in blistering form with no squabling and just good football. Pinder and Jim were superb in the middle of the park, and Watson and Maynard were just unstopable up front. The return of chris Goad to the left saw a good solid performance with 2 well taken goals. Watson got him self on the score sheet too, but the talking point will be Maynard who was on absolute fire. He closed down every thing, and as well as hitting the post and having a few saved, Maynard notched up 6 goals! This performance will give the manager real selection problems next week, but a good problem to have!

Training match - Cuxton under18s- 19th august 2007 - 1-3

Badham - Rose - pennell - deano - Adinola - dan - Worby - Mchale - Pinda - Maynard - rose (Allyman, Watson)

Once again Cuxton choise to listen to nothing that was said about the bickering and bitching and started where we left off. Even worse then last week players were arguing and ranting at one another, whereas the under 18s actually played like a mens team and got on with their job. Cuxton carved out a few chances in the first half hitting the cross bar with one efort ,a curling shot from outside the box from Maynard. Worby also had a driving run through the middle and a shot well saved from the outstanding under 18s keeper. The first real chance the under 18s had they scored from, where the Autos left back conceded possession leading to the goal. The first half will be marred thought by the embarrassing play from Autos players who persisted in arguing with each other, and with officials. One incident saw an Autos player throw a slap making contact with an opossing player, of which he was quickly removed from the game. Another saw a player stamp on another after a bad tackle. The ref even had to stop play and urge all players to calm it down. Absolutely disgusting considering this team one the sportsmanship award from last season.

The second half saw Autos actually cut down on the arguing and concentrate on playing. Watson came on an strengthened up the midfield. Autos started to carve chance after chance. However some smart play down the right saw Auto's concede again with a lob. In the last 10 minutes after good pressure from Autos a third was scored with a shot which was stopped by Badham but still managed to trickle in to the net in a rare error. All in all Badham had a good game. Other problems developed with players swapping positions of their own accord which will be dealt with by the management in the up and coming weeks. Maynard, had a few more good chances which he skyed high and Pinda had a few good shots on goal. All in all though, still alot to be done before the start of the season.

Training match - Deanview- 12th august 2007 - 0-3

Youngy - Rose - pennell - deano - worby - dan - jonan - akinola - amusa - watson - rose (Mchale, Maynard, PInda, Allyman, Badham)

After the excellent result of last week i fully expected Cuxton to go out and build on the performance. Starting with the same team that started last week, the game got underway. The game saw a scrappy first half in which both teams insisted on playing the long ball, which on a small pitch was pointless, as the ball ended up spending more time with the keepers. A slip up half way through the first half where Youngy, the keeper failed to come off his line and collect led to a goal. Cuxton had plenty of oportunities to get back into the game though with many one on ones and flick ons failing to hit the target.

A goal down at half time with all to play for, and really having had the better chances in the first half, Cuxton truely expected to get back into this game. Bringing on 3 subs at half time Cuxton started the second half terribly. Players started to bicker amongst one another and we ended up looking and sounding like a bunch of women the way we were carring on. From the comments on the sideline to the players on the field, in turned into an absolute shambles. Never in my time at Cuxton have i witnessed such an unruley mob, and quite frankly it pissed me right off. 2 more goals from Deanview, the last a great finish, twisting and turning his marker to fire low into the keepers bottom left corner, was a deserved victory for Deanview, who actually played like a true team!.

Cuxton have two training matches left to sort the shambles out that was our second half, befor the start of our season

Training match - Barming Youth - 06th august 2007 - 2-1

Boreham- A Rose - Deano - Pennell - Worby - Dan - Akinola - Jonan - Amusa - R Rose - Watson (D Badham - Pinda)

First Full on training game of the season and what a game it was. Barming youth the consolation cup finalist from last year putting out a team of talented players with Dawson, top goal scorer last season, starting on the left wing. In 30 plus degree heat the game kicked off with Cuxton creating chances from the begining. Watson, Rose, Dan and Amusa combined right from the start, creating chance after chance after chance. Amusa was a constant threat down the left with his pace and skill, and Dan produced a few great crosses, one right onto the head of Jonan who missed right infront of goal. Rose's movement and running upfront was a constant threat to the oposing defenders who were under so much pressue that Barming were forced to play the long ball game, bypassing their midfield. Cuxton defence performed well with the long ball. Pennell and Deano striking up a good partnership with Boreham in particular soo quick off his line that many chances were cut off before players could act on them.

Still, 0-0 at half time with Cuxton not lookin like conceding. The second half saw the first mix up of the game, with defence and goal keeper not calling the ball, and thus keeper coming out of his box and getting lobbed (Dawson). However Cuxton kept plugging away, and could have scored many times from corners (pennell, Worby, Watson, Okinola all with chance). Eventually a great move by A. Rose crossing from deep to Watson to score a superb looping header from the edge of the box. With the introduction of Pinda Barming were in real trouble caused by his sheer pace. He was superb when he came on supplying some great moves. Watson second goal came from a great move involving Pinda again. Jonan dispossesed and played to Pinda, who ran, cut inside pulling the right back in, and then played the ball back out wide to Jonan, who stayed out left wide. Jonan then supplied a cross field ball to Dan running in far right to the box, who laid off to Watson to crack one home on his right foot into the keepers bottom right hand post! SUPERB! Late on Rose had one denied by a great diving save from the Barming keeper. All in all a good peformance!

MOM - Watson just edges it over Deano!
